I've never met them before.. what gifts from the US should i buy them? there's a young boy (age 8?), middle aged mother, father, grandfather, grandmother, teenage sister (13), teenage brother (15), brother and sister in their 20s? what are some things greek people like from the US? I'm from los angeles CA. some gift ideas would be great!

Don't take individual presents – just the kids if you really MUST! When you arrive in Greece – get them flowers or plant and a gateaux from the local patisserie. You can always send the kids something from US at a later date when you know them better. Sometimes giving Greek families presents can be quite upsetting as many do not show the emotions that we foreigners are used to. Believe me … best to stick with the normal gifts of plant / gateaux. Been there – done that!

I want to wrap the Christmas gifts so that they would be more special. How do I do them that the gift would really be presentable?

You can wrap anything, as long as it is in a box or has a square form ( ie a book).

It depends on the recipient. If it is family or friends, you can use any kind of multi colored, funny paper. The ribbon would have to be one colored.

If it is a co worker, or the boss, then I would suggest a one colored wrapper, ie blue, and a one colored ribbon, ie white or light gold.

For your boyfriend, you could use the same paper as for your family, but you can also use a more romantic onr. For example, if you use a paper with santa, or with reindeer, you could change it and put something with mistletoe in it, or with candles.

If it has a square form or is in a box, you can wrap it like this:
1) put the wrapping paper on the table with the colored part facing the table.
2) put the gift on the paper.
3)cut the paper imaging that it will have to cover the whole gift.
4) turn the gift upside down and, starting from the wider part, take both ends of the paper. glue it where they meet.
5) turn the gift over.
6) take the sides of the paper and fold them around the gift so they look like the gifts second skin.
7) lgue where they meet.
put the ribbon under the gift and tie it in the upper part of it.

I am looking for a creative gift I can send to them. They are very close friends. They have two young children too! Any ideas???

Depends on whether you have money or not, and whether she has money, because it's harder to give thoughtful gifts to people who can buy anything.
Here are some things she might like:
* A gift certificate for a massage. A lot of older people are rarely touched. If you don't have money, offer to do it yourself. If you or she is shy, get or give her a hand massage. It's quite nice.
* Pedicure — it's wonderful to have your toenails done, and a lot of elderly people don't take good care of their feet because they don't have flexibility.
* Offer to cook for her or take her out for a meal.
* Write her a poem about how much you love her. If you have money, buy a frame and frame it, perhaps with a picture of the two of you if you have one.
* Buy her a certificate to one of those Glamour Shots places where they do a person's makeup and then take a picture. Older women still want to be glamorous.
* If she likes to cook, buy her some really nice spices.
* If it's cold where she lives, buy her some lovely gloves.
Think about what she likes but might not buy for herself. Good luck!
