I wanna buy my friends some gifts for christmas. Its 4 girls and one guy. The guy is my boyfriend something sporty or clothes or something. For the girls something girly and funky. Any idea’s? And some cheap. Or maybe some homemade gifts. I was thinking for my best friend i could make her a scrapbook of the two of us? Does that sound cool?
yes to the scrapbook, those are the best kind of gifts. Shop the sales for clothing items for your boyfriend. I find a lot of good ideas just walking through the stores and seeing what they have, rather than looking for something specific that may or may not be on sale.

We have a very good friend living with us while he gets back on his feet. He's new to the area and staying with us while he earns enough money to get a place of his own. (note we are NOT in a hurry to get him out of the house, we enjoy having him with us).
This Christmas we all exchanged gifts, and we felt bad because he had spent a lot more money on gifts for us than we had for him. We could have spent more, but were being conservative in order to avoid embarrassment. Apparently this backfired.
In the future I guess we could set up a guideline to avoid this sort of thing.
He was very gracious about it, but I really sort of feel like I need to make it up to him.
Any good advice out there?
You are letting this person stay with you for free (or at least less than it would cost him to have a place of his own). That's quite a nice gift.
Don't worry about making it up to him. If I were in that situation, I'd feel horrible if my hosts spent a lot of money on gifts for me on top of them letting me stay in their home. Giving him more may make him feel worse.

Two of my husband’s cousins (siblings) are getting married next year (in June and September). I’m trying to decide if it’s in poor taste to get the couples Christmas gifts off their wedding registries. Is this taboo? Should I be getting them something more personal and individual for Christmas? What would Emily Post say?
No that’s a great idea! When my family asks me what I want for Christmas I tell them to go to my registry! Not in poor taste at all, and it may help if they have some essentials right now rather than waiting for the Wedding day or the shower!

So if you receive the gifts before Christmas, what do you do?
Do you open them right away?
Put them under the tree?
Ask the sender?
Or what?
Typically – you can do this:
Call the sender to let them know the package arrived safely, and presents are under the tree. If they want you to open them early, they will tell you.
Open on Christmas (or Christmas Eve, for some of us) and send thank you notes by mail as appropriate.
I want to get nice gifts for my family for Christmas. I have plenty of ideas, but I don’t know if I can afford all of it. Any ideas on how I can get some money besides the normal babysitting, etc?
Ask your friends & relatives if they have odd jobs you can help with. Anything from helping bake to walking or grooming the pets. Most people can use an extra pair of hands this time of the year, and good luck to you!
